A revelation in Oil blotting? Introducing the Blotterazzi by beautyblender

Blotterazzi by beautyblender

Hi all,

When I picked up the Blotterazzi by beautyblender £16 a few weeks ago hoping this was going to be the answer to my prayers. Firstly I was surprised that beautyblender had even invented anything like this as so far I’ve only come across their beautyblender sponges and brush cleaners.

The Blotterazzi is a unique tool that uses sponges to blot excess oil and claims to do so without disturbing make up and still leaving the skin radiant looking. The compact (super cute by the way) comes with 2 oil blotting sponges so that you can interchange when the other is dirty which is great for hygiene purposes. The compact also has holes in the back in order to let the sponges breathe and a mirror on the inside of the front lid for ease. The pack came with a sample of their beautyblender blendercleaner which can be used to clean the Blotterazzi sponges.

The idea is to use the sponge dry and press it against the skin where the excess oil lies. The sponge is shaped just like an egg (like a flat beautyblender sponge) so that you can use the smaller tipped edge for the smaller areas on the face and the larger side for the larger areas like the cheeks and forehead.

I was so excited to use this as

  1. it would be easier than buying blotting papers.
  2. it’s more environmentally friendly.
  3. the packaging is just SO CUTE.

But alas I was so disappointed when I used it to blot only to find almost nothing had been absorbed. I get a very oily T zone as you have probably heard me say in post after post and always need to ensure I carry blotting sheets or powder. I assume the reason why it didn’t absorb much is to keep the skin looking radiant but for me it looked oily and I had to turn back to my old fashioned methods.

I have read other reviews and it seems some have the same opinion that it doesn’t blot enough to feel like you are looking more radiant than oily. It’s a shame as I really wanted this one to work out! However I think I will be sticking to my blotting sheets and powder.

Until next time..
