Firstly apologies for my absenteeism this past couple of weeks. My work and studying for my exams had gotten on top of me and I just couldn’t focus on my blog. But I’m back now and wanted to talk to you about an exciting event I went to earlier this month.
I was one of the lucky few Birchbloggers who got to attend a Mascara Master class with Benefit Cosmetics, featuring Bad Gal Lash, They’re Real and their newest edition Roller LashMascara. It was held in Benefit’s pop up bar in Soho called Curl’s Best Friend. The venue was absolutely adorable and we were greeted with cupcakes and cocktails, a great combination in my eyes.
So the main focus of the masterclass was to showcase how Benefit’s mascaras are being incorporated into the recent trends. Roller lash was used to create the perfect everyday look with subtle peach tones, Badgal was used to show us about a trend called ‘The Undersmoke’ where the smoky eye focus is at the bottom lash line and They’re real which was used with the trend colour of 2015 Marsala.
All the trends were demonstrated to us by Lisa Potter-Dixon the head makeup artist for Benefit who was so lovely and taught us some great tips including;
- Using Hoola bronzer to contour the eye
- Using a bit of concealer on the tips and Hoola on top for a nude lip (so easy to not have to worry about carrying multiple products around!)
- Always use mascara on the bottom lashes first and then the top to avoid mascara transferring to the eyelid.
- Using a cutip to blend out eyeliner/shadow is just as effective as a brush.
- To recreate the Marsala eyelook, you an use Benetint lip balm as a cream eyeshadow.
The looks that were created were so versatile and my favourite had to be the undersmoke look. You might be wondering why this was a Birchbloggers event? Any Birchbox subscribers will already be aware that for March, Benefit Cosmetics was including one of their 3 legendary mascaras in the box and you were allowed to choose which one you wanted to recieve! How amazing is that! Oddly enough I’m not a subscriber yet however if I had to choose it would definitely be Badgal. It was Benefit’s first mascara release and my favourite, it does everything I want for my lashes which is definitely volume!
Which mascara did you choose in the March Birchbox?
Until next time..
