Today I’m discussing a recent launch from Rimmel – The Apocalips Matte Lip Velvet Lip Colour. As you may have seen they already have an Apocalips collection which are amazing – super pigmented and real stain power. So when I spotted the matte velvet versions I definitely picked up a couple. The packaging is the same style as the original Apocalips but they are in a matte finish to match the range – clever!
The new collection currently comes in 5 shades. I picked up 2 in Burning Lava and Meteoric Matte two autumny shades.
Burning lava is a dark but bright red. I don’t mind the colour but it’s not my favourite shade of red if i’m being honest.
Meteoric Matte is a like a plum colour. I love this shade and I will definitely be getting a lot of wear out of this one this autumn.
But the products are again highly pigmented – one swipe and your good to go. It has a dome foot applicator but it’s more precise than others making it very quick and easy to use.
With the finish of the lip lacquer it definitely has a velvety finish. But I don’t agree with it being matte because it does not look matte at all, which on the upside means it’s not drying for my lips. I don’t mind the velvety texture for some colours like the meterioc matte.
In terms of longevity it does last quite a few hours but the colour does start fading when you eat and so on but it leaves behind a stain. Hurray for minimal touch ups.
Overall I am quite pleased with the new range and hope they bring out some more shades! At £6.49 you can’t go wrong! Click here to shop the product.
P.S I found this amazing tool on the Rimmel website where if you want to see the shade will look on you before you go and buy it or try in store you can upload your own picture (with no lip colour on) and it will show you what each shade will look on your lips! Amazing!!
P.P.S Currently I’m in beautiful Greece.. Rhodes specifically. I’m hoping I can do a post or two on my trip when I return in a week!
Until next time..
