Foundation shopping is such a nightmare for me so I have a little guide for when I now go Foundation shopping to make sure I come out happy and smiling!
Step 1: The Mirror
When you go to a counter/drugstore and have the foundation applied on your face, the lighting in store is always unrealistic to what shades actually look like on your face. Take a compact mirror with you, step outside into natural light and take a look. This will give you a much clearer picture as to whether the shade is right for you or not.
Step 2: The Pot
Not all stores carry sample pots for the foundation you want to take home and try out. I found it helpful carrying a little pot around with me so I can grab a sample and try it out myself to test the coverage, shade, finish and so on. I don’t want to pay £30 for a foundation come home try it and find I hate it! If you ask nicely most counters are happy to let you take a sample away.
Muji has some great sample pots for less than a £. Bargain!
Step 3: A Buddy
It’s always great to take a friend with you when you are foundation shopping as they can easily tell you if the shade looks right or not. And they will give you a more honest opinion than the sales lady at the counter! (Hope you like my doodle!)
Combine all 3 and you have a successful foundation shop!
Until next time…
